The history of a traditional Berlin-based company
Today's Bundesdruckerei is a Berlin-based company steeped in tradition. The company's history dates back to 1763 when "Royal Prussian Book Printer" Rudolf Ludwig Decker set up his company in the later government district of the Prussian state, where it blossomed for more than 100 years. The property's outstanding location was certainly one reason why Decker's heirs were able to sell their grandfather's business for such an excellent price in 1879 when the company changed hands, the point of departure for the establishment of the first Reich-owned printing house.
The history of Berlin's Bundesdruckerei is reflected in more than 200 years of city history. If you have the time, accompany us on a journey through time and history. During our city's turbulent history, we have not only experienced but also proven that nothing is more permanent than permanent change. We have come a long way from a traditional, state-owned value printing company to become what we are today: one of the world's most recognised suppliers and innovators in all areas of high-security technology.
