Export Compliance

Compliance with export regulations

In compliance with international conventions, the Federal Republic of Germany, EU member states as well as other countries such as Australia, Russia or the US control the export of civil goods and software which could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction or conventional weapons (in particular the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies). The aim here is to warrant international peace and the security of the countries by greater transparency and responsibility and to prevent destabilising accumulations of conventional arms and the related dual-use technologies in certain regions and states of the world.

In addition to EU embargo regulations, Germany's Foreign Trade Law, the EU's Dual Use Council Regulation (EC) 428/2009 as well as the US Export Administration Act apply here in particular.

Bundesdruckerei GmbH and all affiliated companies regard legal compliance with the export control regulations to be a substantial part of business. This is why the Bundesdruckerei Group has drawn up a code of conduct and has established structures which ensure compliance with these regulations. In particular, the export control department and related departments check whether goods and software are checked and whether business partners are involved in the development of weapons of mass destruction or suspected of supporting international terrorism.

In this context, Bundesdruckerei ensures that

- at the time of export, the national regulations of the recipient country have already been taken into consideration;
- the goods are not destined for use in conjunction with arms, nuclear science or weapons;
- no deliveries are made to persons who are recorded in the sanction lists of Europe, Germany, the US or other governments (for instance entries on the lists of the EU from Council Regulation (EC) No. 881/2002, Council Regulation (EC) 2580/2001, Council Regulation (EU) 961/2010, the German Early Warning List, the US Denied Persons List, US Entity List, US Specially Designated Nationals List).

In addition to these regulatory measures, the Bundesdruckerei Group trains staff in the field of export control and fosters appropriate awareness.
